Your gift to NSMC makes an enormous difference in the lives of our patients.
Donations to NSMC support the exciting expansion of our services at the MassGeneral/North Shore Center for Outpatient Care. They also support renovations to the NSMC Salem Hospital campus.
In years past donations have supported the addition of our state-of-the-art Cardiac Surgery Unit, the development of two new Emergency Departments, and the installation of cutting-edge technology for the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center.

Salem Hospital opened its doors in 1874 and is the oldest component of what is now North Shore Medical Center. We created the 1874 Society to recognize philanthropic leaders who give annually to NSMC. It also honors our donors, whose deep personal commitment to providing the finest medical care is a fundamental part of our success.
Membership in the 1874 Society is based on the total cumulative, tax deductible donations in a calendar year.
1874 Society levels are as follows:
- $1,000 - $2,499 Sponsor
- $2,500 - $4,999 Patron
- $5,000 - $7,499 President's Circle
- $7,500 - more Chairman's Circle
As a member of the 1874 Society:

- Your name and contribution will be listed on the 1874 Society donor walls
- You will receive the nsmcGiving newsletter
- All 1874 Society members are invited to the annual donor recognition reception (in spring)
PROGRAMS YOU CAN SUPPORT

The NSMCfund provides unrestricted philanthropy to the North Shore Medical Center that is used for new equipment purchases, technology, patient care services, improvements to physical spaces, and for special program support through the Medical Center.

This annual walk to benefit the Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center celebrates the life, hope and courage of those touched by cancer. We honor the cancer survivors who walk with us and remember loved ones. Since its beginning in 1991, this walk has raised over $10 million for the treatment of cancer patients and for new opportunities for improved cancer treatment through clinical research.
