NSMC Continuing to Improve Operations
3/5/2008

Salem, Mass. – The goal of North Shore Medical Center’s (NSMC) senior leadership team is to provide physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, administrators and volunteers with the tools needed to continuously improve daily operations. To further that commitment, Barbara Corning-Davis, the clinical imaging manager in NSMC’s department of radiology, will now serve as the new director of operational improvement.

In Corning-Davis’ new position, she will create and manage a resource that will help NSMC leaders and managers identify and realize opportunities for operational improvement. Her department will collaborate with operational improvement staff at other Partners Healthcare, Inc. institutions, including Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The Department of Operational Improvement will be the go-to resource for assistance with investigating, analyzing and advancing improvements in the most effective and efficient manner.

As part of Corning-Davis’ responsibilities, she will work to strengthen NSMC’s At Your Service program – the initiative to provide employees and medical staff with the support and empowerment to ensure patients and families have a superior experience at NSMC.

Corning-Davis received her bachelor of science in Industrial Engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. She has held significant operational management responsibilities in both high-tech and health care including experience at Children’s Hospital, Boston. In 2001, she earned a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She currently lives in Gloucester with her husband, Jack, and two children, Max and Samantha.
