Interventional cardiology refers to a range of therapies to remove blockages from the heart, including angioplasty, stenting, atherectomy and clot extraction. These procedures often offer a less invasive method for treating heart problems than surgery. Led by joint NSMC/Massachusetts General Hospital cardiologists, NSMC's Catheterization and Interventional program offers a full range of effective therapies.
Our catheterization lab is organized to provide patients with maximum comfort and safety. We have two catheterization laboratories with state-of-the-art digital imaging that enables our physicians to get intricate views of the heart and arteries. Learn what happens during a cardiac catheterization procedure.
Peripheral Intervention Program
Our expanding Peripheral Interventional Program provides diagnosis, carotid artery angioplasty and stenting, and offers advanced treatment of peripheral vascular disease. Cardiologists work closely with other NSMC specialists to offer the most advanced therapies.
