Jointly led by cardiologists from NSMC and Massachusetts General Hospital, our Catheterization and Interventional program provides a full range of effective therapies, including angioplasty, stenting, atherectomy
and clot extraction.
Our two catheterization laboratories use state-of-the-art digital imaging devices that enable our physicians to get intricate views of the heart and arteries.
Door to balloon time
Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is a way to open blocked heart
arteries. A balloon catheter is inserted into the affected artery and
is then inflated to open the blockage. NSMC is consistently able to perform this life-saving measure on cardiac patients within 90 minutes, well above the national average. Click here to read more about our "door-to-balloon time" performance. Click "current scores" under the Hospitals Individual Scores.
Peripheral Intervention Program
Our Peripheral Interventional Program provides diagnosis, carotid artery angioplasty and stenting, and offers advanced treatment of peripheral vascular disease. Cardiologists work closely with other NSMC specialists to offer the most advanced therapies.
