At NSMC Women's Health, we believe that education and regular screening are some of the most effective things you can do to prevent cancer. Pap smears, breast exams, mammograms, and colonoscopies are among the exams recommended for women. Read the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists screening guidelines.
Your OB-GYN may be able to offer initial treatment right in the office, or you may be referred to the NSMC Cancer Center, where experts treat breast, ovarian, cervical, uterine or vulvaginal cancers, along with a range of other cancers.
Affiliated with Dana-Farber/Partners CancerCare and Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, the NSMC Cancer Center takes a multidisciplinary approach to cancer care. What this means is that your case will be evaluated by a team of experts, with each member focused on a particular aspect of your care. This might include a pathologist, radiologist, surgeon, medical oncologist, radiation oncologist and a nutritionist. Bringing together multiple experts on your behalf ensures that all aspects of your case will be addressed and that you benefit from the combined wisdom and experience of our experts.

Because certain kinds of cancer are more prevalent than others, the NSMC Cancer Center also offers regular multidisciplinary clinics, including a breast cancer and a lung (thoracic) cancer clinic. Should surgery become necessary for certain conditions, we have two dedicated breast surgeons and a gynecological oncologist who can treat you.
