We have experienced phlebotomists and certified medical technologists on staff who work with our patients to obtain necessary tests. Phlebotomists obtain blood samples and prepare the samples for testing, while medical technologists perform the blood tests and make the results available for the clinicians.

Complete blood counts are performed on the Coulter MAXM analyzer and white blood cell counts are evaluated using a microscope. We send chemistry lab tests and special tests to the NSMC Labs for processing.

The Mass General/North Shore Cancer Center lab also works with NSMC Salem Hospital and NSMC Union Hospital Blood Banks to provide blood products for our patients who require transfusions.
